When my mum sent me an article on guerilla knitting/yarn bombing from the Weekend Herald all the way from New Zealand my first thought was 'Pfft.. it'll probably just be people wrapping wool around poles like it always is!' (having done a wee bit of guerilla knitting in my time I feel like I'm allowed to be cynical!) but this time it was something ever so special, wrapping, but with a difference!!

The main image of a knitted Dan Carter should have given it away really, along with the mention of a project undertaken upon hearing about the Christchurch quakes where women adorned a fence in Devonport with black and red hearts to show support.

Knitty Graffiti is a yarn bomber I can admire (I secretly do admire all yarn bombers though!) Her project 'The Woolly Walk Along' in Devonport (unveiled recently - I WISH I could have been there) was thought up a year ago to co-incide with the Rugby World Cup and undertaken in collaboration with more than 90 people in nine countries! Organisational genius!

I had such a fun/educational/experimental time with Pip yesterday attempting to tie-dye! A snap wrong decision at IGA in the morning meant that my attempt was not so much tie-dye as just dyeing.. Oops. Next time round I'll be using rubber bands rather than jute string that doesn't hold up so well in a hot wash - bad move. At least I have a lovely new purple duvet cover!

I had a lot of fun shooting with my dear friend Mel yesterday.. she's been working/sewing towards doing the North Melbourne Thread Den market in two weeks time (that I'm always far too unorganised to apply for!) and these necklaces are new.. She also makes the sweetest little dresses, be sure to head along to the market, it's a special one to co-incide with fashion week - look out for candy, fake flowers and astroturf and you'll find Mel!

If anyone thinks they have the best/most talented/most awesome cousin ever they're wrong. I do. Her name is Jasmine and she's been working ever so hard towards this awesome show that's all installed at Crave cafe - 25 McDonald St, Morningside, which is in Auckland for anyone lucky enough to be in that city and able to see the work in person.

I have always been awed by Jasmine's talent, she puts my knitting to shame for starters. I once gave her a bag of scrap wool I wasn't going to use and she made a patterned cardigan out of it! With buttons made from sawn slices of branches for crying out loud..

And now she's making giant deer heads and the most delightfully whimsical art, involving my favourite birch trees and her favourite woodland folk.. To see images of this show she's put together just warms the cockles of my heart to pretty much boiling point - well done Jaz, I love you!

Don't you just love when you already think that someone is awesome and then they show you the photographs they've been working on and they somehow manage to trump themselves? That's what happened the other night with me and Corinna. She is one talented lady! These images she's been working on are for an upcoming exhibition that I will most certainly be checking out - The Glutton and the Gourmand which is on from Sept 28 till Oct 22 at the Hawthorn Town Hall. They remind me of 70s food photography from a cookbook with a title like 'Microwave Cooking' and make me feel ill in a way that I love.

Robecca also happens to be a very talented lady herself, a veritable vintage clothes queen with her label Sans Pareil. I finally asked and found out today that it means 'unparalleled' in french, and how apt that is.

I love the new images of her range, not only because I happen to count her beautiful model as one of my dearest friends (and love her in black lippy!) but because Robecca's style is just so great. She's constantly rocking up in clothes that she's just whipped up during the day, making me green with envy. She also regularly posts personal looks on lookbook so be sure to check her out!

For my first protest this was certainly an amazing one to be involved in. There was a real sense of community in that we were in Assange's own city and electorate, even though there were plenty of policemen around, some even on horses it never got out of control, there was just an overwhelming general feeling of injustice and the need to make ourselves heard. The speakers were fantastic, each touching on a slightly different angle, Adam Bandt in particular spoke well, about the basic human rights of Assange's that have been violated which coming from someone in his position was pretty hard to ignore. A lady from the Journalists Union (I think) spoke about how if what Assange has done is a crime then every editor of every paper is guilty too and finally a young guy who spoke on the issues and laws surrounding internet censorship. The best line of the day however would have to go to the MC - 'Let's show Britain we're not f***ing convicts anymore' - classic.

Ok, first up a disclaimer - yes, I've been spending all potential making time trawling through fashion blogs which feels way too voyeuristic for my liking but I love it..

I came home from work desperately needing to nap but two slightly weird things have happened which are making it kind of hard to sleep - firstly the $1,656 worth of tax return I just discovered in my bank account (I love Australia!) and then as I'm looking through Rumi Neely's entire back catalogue of posts I discover this. Her wearing a 'vintage dress' that I actually own too! While I would refer to it as more of a jumper it's a bit crazy that something I got off the lovely Clara in her clearing out the wardrobe phase would also be owned by someone on the other side of the world.

I hate that I've written so much about practically nothing but there you go.. I'm weirded out.
